Prizewinning soprano debuts in Okehampton

Anna Dumbiotis is a young soprano embarking on her first outing as a soloist in the Okehampton Choral Society’s performance of Handel’s Acis and Galatea with the help of Plymouth Music Accord’s Young Musicians’ Platform. She will be singing the part of the sea nymph, Galatea, who in classical mythology was loved by both Acis the gentle shepherd and Polyphemus the fearsome one-eyed giant, with tragic consequences.

As a member of the South West Music School’s Centre of Advanced Training, she has benefitted from workshops with specialist vocal coaches including Helen Porter and Rosa Mannion (RCM), as well as performing as a member of Plymouth Philharmonic Choir.

Anna has trained classically with soprano Catherine Hamilton and hopes to continue her musical career at conservatoire level in the near future.

The Concert is on April 4th, 7.30 pm, in Fairplace Church, Okehampton
